Navy Operations Specialist

*(The job of an Operations Specialist can be very intense and stressful while the ship is underway. They need to be able to think quickly, drawing on a large reserve of tactical and procedural knowledge and be able to make calculations on the fly in the fast-paced and information-saturated environment of naval combat operations:  Anti-Surface WarfareAnti-Air WarfareAnti-Submarine WarfareAmphibious WarfareMine WarfareNaval Gunfire SupportSearch and Rescue and some aspects of Electronic  Warfare.)

He can ‘talk with crowds and keep his virtue, and walk with Kings and never lose the common touch’.

* * *

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with kings – nor lose the common touch;

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much;

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

with sixty seconds worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and all that is in it,

And – which is more you will be a man, my son.

  • “The author has not only created a wonderful mix of fact and fiction, he has created characters that are very believable. It makes you believe the characters in the story are real. I loved the little fantasy elements that opened up amazing avenues in the book, with talking animals, talking books and all sorts of other delights. Highly recommended. • “Dennis Lowery, your eloquent and poignant words personify the concept of the “butterfly effect” for we are affected by the world around us as much it is affected by us. Such words can only come from a creative soul; so sensitive and able to sense the effects, and strong enough to be able to transform them into some cohesive form. Kudos to you Dennis!! And thank you so much for stringing the lines you so beautifully dotted.” Nina M.
  • “First let me say that I just heard about your stories recently, so I wanted to check them out. This story was utterly captivating. I’m sure your daughters appreciate the beautiful message you put together for them. I really enjoyed the rawness in your tone throughout this essay. It was heartfelt and captured the message with a polished simplicity that is very rare in writers today. I really appreciated that aspect of your writing. The only critique I have is that I have nothing negative to critique about! And I guess that’s a good thing! Overall, bravo! I honestly enjoyed this, and I hope to read more of your writings and stories.” :)))))) Miss J.
